DISCLAIMER

The power mesh hoods provided are intended for use as a reinforcement for silicone masks made using our cores or made according to the measurments you provided with your order. While every effort has been made to ensure the quality and suitability of the product, it is important to note the following:

  • Proper Adjustment: Users are responsible for correctly adjusting the power mesh hood onto their core. Failure to do so may result in improper casting and subsequent issues with the silicone mask.

  • Casting Process: We cannot be held responsible for any issues that arise during the casting process, including but not limited to air bubbles, tears, or imperfections in the silicone mask. It is the user's responsibility to follow proper casting techniques and procedures.

  • Variability: Please be aware that individual casting techniques and variables can affect the outcome of the final silicone mask. Results may vary based on factors such as materials used, environmental conditions, and casting experience.

  • Limited Liability: Our liability is limited strictly to the quality and functionality of the power mesh hood itself. We do not assume responsibility for any damages, losses, or injuries resulting from the use or misuse of our product.

By purchasing and using our power mesh hoods, you acknowledge and agree to the terms outlined in this disclaimer. If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact us at info@maxlevlstudio.com for assistance.

PROPER USE INSTRUCTIONS

To achieve the best results using our power mesh hoods, be sure to follow these steps:

  • Always wear gloves when manipulating the hood, since the smallest trace of contamination can cause inhibition problems with platinum silicone.

  • Clean the core you're using thoroughly using 99% alcohol.

  • Test the fit of the power mesh hood on your core. You'll see where you need to adjust it.

  • To adjust the power mesh hood, you need to use glue. We strongly recommend using Elmer's multi-purpose Spray Adhesive. If you can't find it at your local hardware store, it can easily be found online. The reason is simple: most other kinds of glue will cause inhibition problems. This one is proven to work flawlessly when used properly.

  • To do this step, work on one section at a time.

    • Once the hood is on your core, lift up the base of the hood, and spray a very light coat of glue slightly lower than where the hood's base sits. Wait ±30 seconds.
    • Proceed to glue the base of the hood one side at a time. IMPORTANT NOTE: DO NOT STRETCH THE HOOD TOO MUCH You want the hood to sit on your core but not be stretched to allow for better comfort and not reduce the stretchiness of the mask.
  • While you are gluing the hood's base, make sure to place it so there are very few to no folds at all. Folds could become a patching nightmare if the mesh pokes out of your mask.

  • (Optional) You can spritz a bit of glue in strategic places like the area on both sides of the nose, under the chin, to get the power mesh closer to the core in these areas, especially if the mask you are casting is thin in those areas. You don't want the mesh to float on the surface of your mask.

  • Once the glue is dried, and the power mesh placed on your core properly, check if the mesh obstructs bolt holes on your core. If so, I suggest using a sharp razor blade or small scissors (like cuticle scissors) to cut an opening where the bolt hole is.

  • Inspect for any folds that would have appeared while you were manipulating the hood in the previous steps.

  • If everything sits perfectly on the core, you are now ready to fit the core inside your mold.

  • The trickiest part is to place the core so the mesh doesn't fold anywhere. You can use popsicle sticks (tongue depressors) to carefully push the mesh in tight areas like the shoulders for a full mask or the neck for a half mask.

  • Once you are certain that the mesh is properly placed, and your core sits well inside your mold, you can proceed to close up the mold. NOTE: THE MOLD'S FLANGES MIGHT NOT SIT TOGETHER AS PRECISELY AS THEY WOULD WITHOUT THE MESH

  • Be careful while bolting up the mold and watch for any alignment issues. If you see a problem, you better open the mold again and check if the mesh is not creating the issue, adjust if necessary, and close up your mold again.

  • Once your cast is done and out of the mold, it's important to clean your core thoroughly to remove any traces of glue. You don't want to create a glue buildup on your core, which could cause other issues.

  • Inspect your cast carefully, particularly where the hood's seams are. It has a tendency to create air bubbles inside the mask, which could cause weakness in those areas. If it happened, don't worry. Clean the inside of the mask thoroughly using 99% alcohol, and fill the bubble like you would patch your mask normally. Or you can use Smooth-On Sil-poxy or Shin-Etsu KE-45T silicone to patch it up too.

If, even though you placed the hood carefully, you see a fold poking out of your mask, it's still fixable. If you are not sure about how to proceed in that situation, contact us at info@maxlevlstudio.com and send us pictures of the issue. We will be glad to help you figure out the best solution.
