MAXLEVL STUDIO'S FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTION

  • WHAT HEAD SIZES WILL FIT YOUR MASKS?
The core on which we sculpt our male fit masks is 21-1/2'' around the eyebrows. So it will fit most heads from 21-3/4'' to 25'' without issues. You can measure your head with a seamstress measuring tape, just around the eyebrows to be sure it'll fit you. If your head is too small for the mask you want. It's possible to wear a beanie or some padding on top and the back of your head to make it fit right. To know how to do it, contact us at info@maxlevlstudio.com We are currently working on developing a female fit mask collection too, keep an eye open to see what we come up with!
  • ARE SILICONE MASKS DURABLE?
Yes! A platinum silicone mask, if well taken care of, can last many many years if not decades.
  • DO YOU HAVE "IN STOCK" PRODUCTS?
Sometimes yes. If a product is in stock, we will indicate it on the page of this particular product. In stock products usually ships within a 2 to 4 business days. We will also publish any in stock item on our social media pages:
  • DO YOUR MASKS COME WITH HEAD FORMS?
No, head forms are an accessory you have to add to your order if you want one. ***Be aware that the shipping cost for the head form is a lot higher than just the mask.***
  • WILL THE POWER MESH PROTECTION REDUCE THE MASK'S MOVEMENTS?
The power mesh is a fabric that stretches a lot! Plus, when we create the power mesh hoods that goes inside the mold before casting, we make sure to use stretchable seams (Zig zag). That way, every seams stretches too, avoiding stiffer area near the hood's seams. So as a result, our masks are as flexible and move as well as other maker's masks that don't use a full power mesh protection.
  • WHAT IS THE DELIVERY TIME FROM THE MOMENT I PLACE AN ORDER?
Depending on demand when you are placing your order, the production time can vary from 8 to 10 weeks in "low demande periods" but can go up to more than 10 to 12 weeks when the demand is high. Add 2 more weeks to that time if you select any hair options. If you have a specific deadline, please contact us at info@maxlevlstudio.com so we can discuss about it.
  • WHEN WILL MY ORDER SHIP?
When your order is ready to be shipped, you will get a confirmation e-mail including the tracking number and the link to track it.
  • HOW DO I PUT ON A SILICONE MASK?
The best way to put on a silicone mask is: -Hold the mask upside down, with both hands sitting on the right and left temple. -Flip the bib and the back bib so they are not in the way. -Stretch the mask sideways and slide it on over your head from the top/back of your head, holding that sideway stretch while you slide it on. -As the mask slides on your head, bring your hands slowly down and out, using your cheeks and neck as a guide ***DO NOT PULL ON THE MASK BIB*** -To adjust the mask in place correctly, use the palm of your hands over the "skin" of the mask to gently slide the mask into place. ***DO NOT PULL OR PINCH THE SILICONE*** -To make the mask fit better and move better, make sure to adjust towards the back of your head, it will push the face of the mask against yours and will help for better face movements and expressions. -If the neck and bib needs to be adjusted, slide one hand inside the mask, following your neck, without pulling the silicone, and use your other hand outside to press against the hand that is inside, now you can move the silicone without damaging it. If you followed these steps correctly, you are now transformed into the mask you wanted! This procedure is what will make your mask last a long time. Remember that rubbing the silicone will damage the paint, pulling the bibs could cause a tear in the neck area, Respect the way it's supposed to stretch and you won't have any issues! ***IMPORTANT NOTE: REMOVE ANY RINGS ON YOUR FINGERS, AND MAKE SURE THAT YOUR NAILS ARE NOT SHARP, SINCE IT CAN CUT THE SILICONE. ALSO REMOVE ANY PIERCINGS THAT COULD CUT THE SILICONE OR THAT THE MASK COULD PRESS AGAINST, CAUSING YOU IRRITATION.
  • HOW DO I PUT ON MY MASK ON A DISPLAY HEAD FORM?
Using a spray bottle filled with 99% isopropyl alcohol, spray the inside of the mask, and the head form. Put you hand inside the mask like you would do to put it on, and slide it over the head form. It will slip right on without any effort since the 99% alcohol act as a lubricant. Plus, this will sanitize your mask and head form! ***IMPORTANT NOTE: DO NOT PULL ON THE BIB***
  • HOW DO I CLEAN MY MASK?
For a fast clean, you can use baby wipes to gently wash your mask. For a more thourough clean, you can wash it by submerging it in warm water with a soft soap. Clean it with your hands without scrubbing, just smoothly wash away the dirt and debris that sticked to the silicone. Rince thoroughly with fresh water. Pat it dry with a towel. You can do an extra step to make sure there's no moisture left: Using a spray bottle filled with 99% isopropyl alcohol, spray the inside and let it drip a bit, it will wash away any traces of water left. ***IMPORTANT NOTE: DO NOT SCRUB THE SILICONE, IT CAN DAMAGE THE PAINT***
  • THERE'S A TEAR ON MY MASK, HOW CAN I REPAIR IT?
The best product to use is a silicone glue called Sil-Poxy made by Smooth-On. You can find it on Amazon, or directly on Smooth-On's website. Steps: 1: clean the area (inside and outside) with 99% isopropyl alcohol. Let it evaporates completely. 2: To avoid any alignement issue while gluing it back, you can use a small foam block that you slide inside the mask. Using sewing pins, fix each sides of the tear to the foam block inside by piercing the silicone with the pins. 3: Now that everything is cleaned up and the silicone is fixed to the foam block. Put on some vinyl gloves (to avoid contamination that could cause inhibition of the silicone glue) 4: Using a wood stick (popsicle stick or tongue depressor), pu just a pea sized amount of Sil-Poxy at the tip of the stick. Use another stick to open the tear up a bit, and apply the Sil-Poxy inside the tear. 5: There will be a bit of overspill, so use a clean stick to gently scrape the excess off. 6: Using a fan brush, dip the brush in just a bit of 99% alcohol, shake the excess off and gently brush over the tear to spread what's left of the glue on top, creating a smooth surface. ***IF THE TEAR WAS IN AN AREA WHERE THERE WERE DEEP RINKLES, YOU CAN USE THE NON-POINTY PART OF A TOOTH PICK TO FOLLOW THE RINKLE'S LINE TO REMOVE THE EXCESS SILICONE*** 7: Let cure fore 24h. 8: Remove the pins and the foam block. 9: Flip the mask inside out. 10: Cut a small piece of power mesh fabric (you can find it in a lot of fabric store or on amazon, it's called 4 way stretch power mesh). 11: Check on which way the power mesh stretches the more. 12: Check in which ways the silicone usually stretches in the area you are repairing. 13: Wearing vinyl gloves, clean the surface with 99% isopropyl alcohol and let it evaporates completely. 14: Using a wood stick, apply a thin layer of Sil-Poxy about 3/4'' all around the tear. 15: Gently press the power mesh piece against the Sil-Poxy, keeping in mind the way it'll stretch the most to align it properly. 16: Using a clean wood stick, apply another thin layer of Sil-poxy all over the power mesh piece and 1/4'' all around it. 17: Using a clean fan brush dipped into 99% alcohol, brush smoothly over the Sil-Poxy in light strokes to even it out and smooth it out. That way you'll get a smooth finish over your repair. 18:Let it cure 24h. And voilà! You now have done a strong repair on your mask and it's ready to wear again!
